Yucca elephantipes “Spineless Yucca, Giant Yucca” is large, upright shrub or usually small tree with several to many sparsely branched trunks arising near ground level. Narrowly lance-shaped, light to mid-green leaves, 60-100cm long, are stiffly leathery, with toothed margins. On mature plants, pendent, hemispherical, white to cream flowers, 3-4cm long, are borne in dense, erect panicles, to 1m long, from summer to autumn.

The broad, sword-like leaves identify stick yucca (Yucca elephantipes). Its spiky foliage grows in a rosette form on the top of a bare stem or cane. To help identify this species of yucca from others, check for spines on the leaves. The leaves of stick yuccas have no spines, which is how it gets its other common name—spineless yucca.
