Phoenix, commonly known as the Miniature Date Palm or Pygmy Date Palm, is a dwarf palm with a slender trunk that may occasionally cluster, bearing pinnately divided leaves up to 1m in length. It produces panicles of small yellow flowers that may be followed by small, edible black fruit. This palm is lovely as an indoor plant and grows very slowly, reaching a maximum height of 4-5 ft. (1-2 meters) indoors. Its arching, graceful fronds, about 3 ft. (0.9 meters) in length, have delicate leaflets that develop off a stately central trunk.
The dwarf date palm is an excellent clean air plant, with its elegantly shimmering fronds draping interiors with soothing tranquility. Similar to its cousin, the Canariensis, Phoenix roebelenii is a hardy, majestic palm suitable for both indoor and outdoor spaces, with feathery leaves reminiscent of exotic, sun-drenched locales.
